How to Search M&A Professionals on Mergr

Find senior PE investment professionals, investment bankers, and M&A lawyers — searchable by name, title, firm, biography keyword, geography, and email availability. Useful for sourcing, recruiting, BD targeting, and competitive intel.

Who's in this search (and who isn't)

Mergr tracks senior professionals on the investor and advisor side:

  • Private equity firms — partners, principals, managing directors, and other senior investment professionals.

  • Investment banks — senior bankers covering M&A.

  • Law firms — senior attorneys covering M&A.

Note: Mergr does not track company-level executives — no CEOs, CFOs, founders, or board members at portfolio companies, public companies, or standalone privates. For company contacts, pair Mergr with a dedicated contact tool.

Search filters

See all options for searching professionals.

  1. Keyword Bio — Searches the text of each professional's biography. Useful for surface-level expertise scans (e.g.,"healthcare," "middle-market," "distressed").

  2. Keyword Title — Searches the Title field directly (e.g., Partner, Operations, General Counsel). Use OR to match multiple titles in one search (e.g., "Controller OR CFO").

  3. Works for — Restricts the search to one professional category: PE firm, investment bank, or law firm. Use when you only want one side.

  4. w/ Email — Restricts results to professionals with an email on file. Useful for direct-outreach lists.

  5. City — Narrows geographically. Use OR to search multiple cities in one query (e.g., "New York OR Boston").

  6. State / Province — Narrows by state or province.

  7. Country — Narrows by country.

  8. Office Location Only — By default, geographic searches match professionals based on either the firm's HQ or the professional's individual office location. Check this box to match only on the professional's individual office — useful when firms have multiple offices and you want to isolate the regional team.

When to use which filter

  • Building a sell-side or buy-side mandate outreach list → Title (e.g., Managing Director) + Works for: Investment Bank + City/State + w/ Email.

  • Finding M&A counsel in a region → Works for: Law Firm + City + Title (e.g., Partner).

  • Recruiting from a target firm → Works for: PE Firm + Title + Office Location Only (to isolate the team in a specific office).

  • Vendor and service-provider BD (selling to PE professionals, IB bankers, or M&A lawyers) → Title + City + w/ Email for direct outreach lists.
