How to quickly build a list of financial M&A advisors by size on Mergr

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When adding deals to the Mergr database, we look to attach both the legal and financial M&A advisors to the deal. Given most deals do not include the deal size itself - one helpful metric to help sort deals can be the size of the advisor involved.

Size categories for financial advisors on Mergr include;

  • Broker

    • Headcount

      • 1 - 3 people

    • Deal Size Sweetspot

      • Small

  • Boutique

    • Headcount

      • 2 - 20 people

    • Deal Size Sweetspot

      • Small to Lower Middle-Market, Some Large for Sector Specialists

  • Middle-Market

    • Headcount

      • 10 - 50 people

    • Deal Size Sweetspot

      • Lower Middle-Market to Middle-Market, Large too

  • Large

    • Headcount

      • 50+ people

    • Deal Size Sweetspot

      • Middle-Market to Large

  • Bulge Bracket

    • Headcount

      • Hundreds

    • Deal Size Sweetspot

      • Middle-Market to Mega (1B+)

Here's how to quickly build a list of financial advisors (or investment banks) based on the size options listed above.

Step 1

Navigate to the M&A Advisor Search page.

Step 2

The M&A Advisor search interface on Mergr includes both legal and financial advisors. In this case, we want financial advisors - so check the 'Financial Advisor' box.

Open the 'Size' dropdown list. We include options to segment both financial and legal advisors by size. For financial advisors - select the options that interest you.

Note: 'Financial Advisor', 'Bank', and 'Investment Bank' are all the same.

Step 3

Your result set will include just the investment banks you've selected. You can separately view their latest transactions, team members, clients, and more.
