What it is
The Mergr Connector links your AI assistant (such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Perplexity) directly to Mergr's private equity database. Once connected, you can ask questions—such as "Which firms would buy a $30M HVAC distributor in Texas?"—and receive answers powered by live Mergr data.
Important: The Mergr Connector provides read-only access to Mergr data. It can search and retrieve information from Mergr, but it cannot add, modify, or delete any data in Mergr. The Mergr Connector also cannot access your chats, files, or other data stored in your AI assistant.
Connect in Claude (web or desktop)
Open Settings → Connectors (click your initials in the lower-left corner).
Choose Add custom connector and paste:
https://mcp.mergr.com/connectorClick Add, then sign in with your normal mergr.com email and password when the Mergr page appears.
Start a new chat. In the chat's tools menu (the sliders icon), check that Mergr is toggled on.
Connect in ChatGPT
Custom MCP apps in ChatGPT require a supported paid plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu). Some Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces also require an administrator to enable Developer mode.
Open Settings → Apps (or Apps & Connectors, depending on your version of ChatGPT).
Open Advanced settings and enable Developer mode.
Return to the Apps page and click Create app (or Create, depending on your interface).
Name the app Mergr and enter the MCP server URL:
https://mcp.mergr.com/connectorChoose OAuth authentication and save. You'll be redirected to the Mergr sign-in page—log in using your normal mergr.com email address and password.
Start a new chat. Click the + button (or Tools) in the message composer, choose Developer Mode, and enable the Mergr app for the conversation.
Connect in Perplexity
Custom connectors are available on Perplexity Pro, Max, and Enterprise plans.
Open Settings → Connectors and click + Custom connector.
Choose Remote, name it Mergr, and paste the server URL:
https://mcp.mergr.com/connector.Set the authentication method as prompted, complete sign-in with your Mergr credentials, and confirm the connector is connected.
Start a new thread and select Mergr as a source for the conversation.
First time approvals
The first time your AI assistant uses a Mergr capability, it will ask for your permission. Choosing Always allow means you won't be prompted again for that capability.
Most users only see these prompts during their first conversation. After the initial setup, using the Mergr Connector becomes seamless.
Using a different AI assistant?
The Mergr Connector follows the MCP standard (Model Context Protocol) and works with any MCP-compatible client — use the same URL (https://mcp.mergr.com/connector) and sign in with your mergr.com credentials.
Your first questions
"Who are the most active healthcare PE acquirers over the last 5 years?"
