Companies in the Mergr database fall into one of four categories - these include 'Public', 'Private', 'PE Backed' and 'Private'. PE Backed companies are those currently owned by a private investment firm.
Here's how to quickly build a list of PE Backed companies located in a specific state.
Step 1
Navigate to the Company Search page.
Step 2
Once on the Company Search page - expand the search menu by selecting 'More Options'.
Step 3
With all search options now visible - in the second row, select the US State (or Canadian Province) that interests you in the 'State / Province' dropdown.
Next, select 'PE Backed (Current)' under 'Ownership Status'.
Step 4
Select Search.
Your result set will contain all PE Backed companies in your selected state.
